The Hammerhead Sharks are an endangered species due most significantly to human impact. The Hammerheads fins are considered a delicacy in many countries. The sharks are caught by fishermen, they are dragged on board and their fins are cut off while they are still alive and breathing.
The rest of the carcass is thrown into the ocean and the shark eventually bleeds to death. There is a ban against shark finning around the world as a result fishermen continue shark finning because the Asian market drives the illegal harvest system, threatening the survival of the entire species.
